From Domus Begur Real Estate we give you some advice.

As 2020 draws to a close, all readers of this article are encouraged to visit Begur and all the tourist sites on the Costa Brava.

What better time than now to disconnect from the routine and find your moment near the sound of the waves and the sea. An instant where nobody will hinder you or worry you and where you can enjoy the warm winter sun and the tranquility of the Costa Brava.

A winter near the beach, fully enjoying long walks, routes in the area or visits in the most emblematic places without queues or waiting.

At Domus Begur we believe that this is the ideal time of the year to enjoy your stay to the fullest, whether with your partner, your family or friends. If you want to know some more reasons to visit the Costa Brava and especially Begur, here are some reasons that will surely encourage you to discover these corners of the Empordà so close and special.

Discover what to see in and around the village of Begur

Begur, Medieval village

The municipality of Begur is located in the Baix Empordà, between Pals and Palafrugell. Its town, with its deep-rooted personality and historical importance, is one of the reasons for visiting this area of Catalonia. Moreover, near this town you will find some of the most famous paradisiacal beaches of the whole Costa Brava such as: Sa riera, Aiguablava, Sa tuna and Platja Fonda.

From Domus Begur, we invite you to get lost in the streets of Begur and visit some of its most impressive monuments such as the medieval castle, which is located on a hill in the middle of the town itself, the group of Indianos’ stately homes, the 16th century defence towers, the Gothic church dedicated to Saint Peter and other historical buildings such as the Old Schools and the Cultural Casino.

Discover Begur Castle

A historical monument that you can’t miss during your visit to Begur is the Begur Castle, which was built during the 16th century and is a building declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest and currently a tourist attraction.

This emblematic monument is located right in the centre of the town and stands guard from the highest position in the town. The state of conservation of the stone is relevant, especially the main tower of the castle that keeps its cylindrical shape and its 5 meters high intact. Only a few remains of the interior and exterior walls have been preserved.

Come to the Begur Castle and discover its beautiful viewpoint that offers a panoramic view of the Costa Brava that is hard to forget. From up there you can see the Illes Medes, the Canigó mountain and, if the sky is clear, even Cap de Creus.

From Domus Begur agency we invite you to visit this building with your family, couple or friends. The occasion deserves it and it will surely not leave you indifferent.

Wine tourism and wine tasting in the Empordà

Speaking of the experiences that can be made in winter in Begur, this is a very good time to take advantage and do a wine tasting in a cellar in Catalonia. The Empordà area has a large group of rural places spread throughout the territory, where people live from wine.

Near the town of Begur there are two incredible vineyards where they work daily with the grapes and their collection and that are part of the wine route through the Empordà. The first one we recommend is Mas Geli, which is about 15 minutes from Begur and near the village of Pals, in the Massos de Pals; the other one is Mas Oller, located in Torrent, about 10 minutes by car from Begur.

Wine tasting, refined experiences and discovering new flavours are some of the reasons why oenophiles tour the territories of the Empordà.
